You know you can go to the desktop and it looks/performs just like Win7 right? Everywhere i look, the advice is far too technical for me. This definitely solved the problem. I have tried all the tricks to black screen login issues that I have read about on google but nothing works, still the same problem. Insanely annoying! Instead I was being bit by a new setting introduced for touchpads in Windows 8.1 related to tap delay after typing. I'm using a CM Storm Sentinel Z3RO-G for reference.
