Sorry, that path should have read '\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon' The EDIT1 branch IS actually the Software branch, since you loaded the Software Hive. That works for me. the most successful so far is a normal windows restore which takes the computer back a few days, I would recommend a week to 2 weeks if available.
No one should have to do that to get through day to day on a computer in 2010.
