BSOD After SP2 Install

Three times with two different USB devices, a flash drive, and a card reader. i make drive C: the 35Gb with my OS and program files. Evan Wondrasek Windows Update KB973879 has been identified as the specific update causing the error, but it appears that some users may have experienced blue screens with other updates as well. The update log does show kb973879 being installed, though. John If it is something like mine, it would be the KB970653.
Also tried repair install but get the same stop error. From a 5.8-inch OLED display, reports of wireless charging and even a 3D scanner for facial recognition, it's all here. Anyhow, whoever may have this problem and HAPPENS to stumble across this page, rest assured that the fix works. I just tried to install SP2 for Windows Vista.

I have also disabled automatic updates. Hiding update KB973879 in windows update then stabilises the systems. It was not fixed in subsequent builds of SP3.

Thanks Shashank I can see that possibly this has been resolved for some, but it hasn't been resolved the way it should have been. The reason I ask is because SP1 dowloads from Microsoft site but fails to install:... Save my day on my Dell Stdio 1737! Sad.
My HP Pavilion dv7 (also a new laptop, like many who have commented) is now up and running again, though for some reason Trillian is still being difficult (I get numerous Rick Hey Eric, Yea I'm on 64bit Vista Ultimate. i fuss around with my BIOS (pull the battery, reset it) and finally get the installer to see my RAID array and am able to install windows. Right now I'm on safe mode.

I feel very bad for the hundreds of people that have reformatted their computers (or paid money to have it fixed) over this type of problem. The time now is 21:16. .
After researching this issue, it seems as if this is happening to all different manufactures (HP, Dell, Acer). Every thing ok now again. Quit Registry Editor. 7. Michaela This happened to me yesterday!

I will try these methods to remove the update and see what happens and report back. Mary I have been cursing this occuring on a 3 week old Dell 1545. So, there's that for what it's worth.
